HS Building Update 08.15.24
The following video is a walk-through of the Brown County High School renovation project as of August 14, 2024 @ approximately 7:41pm. The video takes you through the main entrance where you will begin to see how the school will look. After entering the main entrance, we will turn right to see the progress being made on the west side of the building. As you can see, the ceiling tiles and floor tiles have been removed (abated). It will remain this way until further notice. As we travel down the west hallway, you can get a glimpse of the new men’s and women’s restrooms (once the girl’s locker room and women’s restroom). Next is the new FACS room (Family and Consumer Science A.K.A. Home Ec.). These three new areas will be operable by August 21st when students arrive.
We then take a left turn and travel east down the south math/Spanish hallway. These four classrooms have been completely asbestos-abated and received a clean air test. The walls were removed between each of the classrooms and temporary walls were constructed. These four classrooms will become the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms once the new addition is completed. The math and Spanish classes will be relocated into the new addition.
The next room to look at is the temporary girl’s locker room. This area was once the SEL educator and counseling office. This area has been asbestos-abated and will eventually become a classroom.
Our travels continue back to the north toward the office area. The black pipe in the ceiling is a new water line for the fire suppression system that was required. In addition to the suppression system, there are new electrical lines and new water lines within the ceiling area.
The district has had multiple safety visits along the way to make sure we are safe and compliant for the students and staff as we prepare for the beginning of school to start on August 21st. The Regional Office of Education will only allow school to start if they deem it safe. They have walked through twice. The state fire marshal and the architect assigned to the project have also walked through with the ROE Health Life Safety inspector.
Please be assured that as the renovations continue, we will always keep the safety of students and staff as the number one concern.
