Aubree Collins Earns Reading & Writing Recognition
Sophomore Aubree Collins has received recognition from Secretary of State & State Librarian Alexi Giannoulias for her participation in two reading & writing programs during the 2023-2024 school year.
Aubree rose to the challenge in the 2023-2024 Read for a Lifetime program by reading a total of seven books from the list of twenty-five featured books. The Read for a Lifetime program is sponsored by the Library of Congress and the State of Illinois. Its goal is to promote a commitment to lifelong reading and learning. Books in the list vary in subject matter and genre, and include fiction, nonfiction, and verse selections.
Aubree has also earned Honorable Mention status in the Letters About Literature in Illinois program. Aubree wrote a personal letter to an author stating how reading his/her book changed her. Her focus was on how the author’s work changed her view of the world and herself. The Letters About Literature program is a statewide reading and writing competition sponsored by the Illinois State Library’s Illinois Center for the Book.
Congratulations to Aubree Collins for her commitment to reading and writing.
