Mr. Llewellyn's Seventh Grade Class Works on 3-D Door Signs
Last month, the seventh grade STEM CLASS has been working on their student projects. The students were told to develop a functional model of a door sign that would indicate whether a room was occupied or if it was open/ available to be used.
The students went through three more designs. The second design was built out of Lego parts, the third design was created as a digital 3-D model using CAD software, and the final design was a physically printed 3-D model. Using 3-D printers that BCMS purchased using a generous grant from DOT Charitable in the summer of 2022, students were able to print a "first draft" of their sign that was 1/2 the size of their final model. By doing this, they were able to see problems and potential issues and fix them in advance of their final production. If they found any potential issues, they are allowed to go in and re-work the design in the software and make revisions before printing the full-size version.
