JDRF Fundraiser Huge Success
In November We Wear Blue
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. You may be noticing lots of people wearing blue in support of Diabetes awareness. Over 30.3 million people in the US are living with one of the 2 types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that is caused when the pancreas stops making insulin. There is no known cure for Type 1 diabetes. Currently, researchers at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) are looking for a cure. They are continuously raising money to fund the research to one day end Type 1 diabetes.
Two of these special Type 1 diabetics live right here in our community and attend Brown County Elementary School. As a way to show support to these two girls, Brown County Schools did a coin challenge, raising money for the JDRF. At the beginning we had a goal to raise $500, but because of our amazing community our goal was blown away. Between the 3 schools we raised more than $3,600. Thank you so much BROWN COUNTY!
