Volleyball: Senior Highlight
Kaci McKeon has played volleyball all throughout high school, she is a very motivated player who also motivates those around her. One of the best memories she has experienced in her 4 years is winning conference for the first time in Brown County history. She had a very big impact to accomplish such, and kept the team going. The hardest thing she has had to overcome this season is realizing it will be her last season playing volleyball with her teammates. Playing a team sport can sometimes be hard, but something Kaci has picked up on is understanding her role as a teammate and learning how to fulfill that.
Cortni Law has played volleyball since her freshman year. During her freshman year season it was challenging going into a not so good program, yet it was slowly progressing. Sophomore year it was about the same, yet her Junior year the record only held 4 losses, which led to be the best record in school history. Senior year she was apart of winning the first varsity tournament in over 10 years, winning conference, and her coach got her 100th career win. Cortni wishes to add a regional title for the first time in volleyball history, and has much confidence in continuing the season past last. Her perspective on playing a team sport is all about teamwork, building a bond with your teammates, and trusting they have your back. Something she would like the incoming freshmen to know is always work your hardest no matter what, that isn't only for volleyball, school also.
Gabby McGath is a 4 year volleyball player. She is the "point guard" of the team, in the setters position. Which is a key player in volleyball, meaning she has a lot of pressure on her shoulders. Yet gabby is able to handle all of that well, and understands how the players work. Gabby has really enjoyed her senior season, and loves the determination each player has towards volleyball. As a team she enjoys how far they have came together, and the potential they have to break school history. Playing a team sport gabby has realized that it is all about team work. It takes not just confidence in yourself, but confidence in your teammates. Advice towards the incoming freshmen is if you plan on playing a sport, always give your all. Working hard in practice determines how you're going to play in a game. Also don't let one person's attitude determine how you play, always have confidence in yourself and lift others up.
Makenna Post decided to pick volleyball back up her senior year after not playing since 7th grade. Meaning she had a lot of catching up to do, so that was something challenging she had to face this year. The most rewarding thing that came out of her senior season was being a part of the first team to win WIVC in school history for volleyball. Playing a team sport she has realized to always work together, not as individuals. A piece of advice towards the freshman is if you really want to accomplish things, you're going to have to put the work in.
